Hi, I’m Joseph — owner of LifeLong Aquatics.

I’m an accomplished swim instructor with 3 years of experience. I started teaching swim lessons at the Lake Stevens High School Pool as a volunteer at 14 years old. I got CPR/AED/Lifeguard certified as soon as I turned 15.

My teaching style became more refined after teaching Adaptive lessons at Snohomish Aquatic Center for a year. I learned to meet people where they are and push those limits, sometimes mental and physical.

After helping kids in Adaptive lessons succeed when no one thought they could, I declared war on limitations in the water and created LifeLong Aquatics.

I do all of the teaching here at LifeLong Aquatics, but I plan on hiring other instructors that I trust to represent the brand soon.

I teach swim lessons in Lake Stevens, Snohomish and private pools. View the scheduling page to learn more.

When I’m not in the water, I’m connecting with local pools, working toward my undergrad requirements for UW Law, studying chess, and gaining hands-on experience — like interning with a water physical therapist this summer.

Full Testimonials:

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sanjay, Lake Stevens.

Coach Joe has been absolutely amazing with my children. He was incredibly patient, kind, and encouraging—especially when my kid was nervous about learning new swimming skills.
Thanks to his supportive approach, my children have not only gained confidence in the water but also picked up new techniques quickly.
I was so impressed with Joe’s coaching that I recommended him to three of my friends, and now their kids are also training with him. They’ve all had great experiences too.
If you’re looking for a swimming coach who truly cares about the kids and helps them progress at their own pace, Coach Joe is the one!

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Vamsi, Lake Stevens.

I’ve had the pleasure of training my kid under Joseph and I can confidently say that he is an exceptional swimming coach. He brings incredible energy, patience, and technical knowledge to every session.

His ability to break down techniques, and encouragement he gives my kid has truly made a positive impact on her performance and confidence in the pool. I’m grateful for the guidance and support Joseph has given my kid.

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tarun, Lake Stevens.

Why My Lessons Work:

You may be wondering: what makes LifeLong Aquatics different?

Firstly, I take learning to swim very seriously for two reasons:

  1. Drowning is the third global leading cause of death for children aged 5-14¹.

  2. College is expensive, and scholarships are awarded to excellent swimmers.

IHME, Global Burden of Disease (2024) – with minor processing by Our World in Data. “Drowning” [dataset]. IHME, Global Burden of Disease, “Global Burden of Disease - Deaths and DALYs” [original data]¹.

This means, you can expect very detailed and applicable lessons, not splashing by the pool and calling it some sort of “swim lesson” like other swim programs.

My teaching philosophy is simple: I meet swimmers where they’re at — then help them push their limits, step by step.

This approach works. I’ve tried countless approaches, but the latest researchers confirm that personalized feedback works.

One of the many studies I’ve learned from is Motor Learning and Performance by Richard A. Schmidt and Timothy D. Lee.

They found that external feedback enables learners to develop strategies to reduce error, making faster and longer lasting skill acquisition (Schmidt and Lee).

My feedback approach works for swimmers with both college athletics and/or safety in mind. Everybody above age 5 will find value here at LifeLong Aquatics.

Instead of registration fees, every swimmer starts with a free first lesson and a custom Preliminary Report.

This report highlights what the swimmer does well, and shows the exact areas of improvement.

From there, I plan each lesson around exactly what the swimmer needs to work on.

This is the feedback approach in action, completely free for swimmers new to LifeLong Aquatics.
